In 2006, Contact Industries introduced over 67 new products. Of these, nearly 40% were for one specific architectural project and may never be produced again. The other 60% were products designed for OEMs, builders, and distributors, providing the market with consistent, high performance millwork. A few of our latest innovations include:

Fire-rated Door Frames: Contact Industries now offers fire-rated door frames, veneer-wrapped in any wood species with fire ratings of 20, 45, 60 and even 90 minutes. With the availability of wood veneer-wrapped door frames, designers can match frames, doors and mouldings to create more elegant interiors for commercial applications. Download the brochure here. Tongue and Groove Paneling: Like many of Contact’s natural wood-wrapped products, the paneling offers the beauty of solid wood, but in long, clear, defect-free, color consistent lengths. The T&G comes in lengths up to 16’, and widths up to 10”, providing ease of installation, resulting in less labor and a lower installed cost. Contact’s tongue and groove paneling is ideal for interior walls and/or ceilings.

Aluminum clad window louvers: In response to a request
from a UK-based architectural firm, Contact co-developed a veneer-wrapped, extruded aluminum core window louver that not only met the design team’s desire for aesthetics, but also provided a solution that is dimensionally stable, light weight and met the fire-rating requirement of the project. Teak profiles for art frames: In conjuntion with Pictures Plus, Inc. of Hawaii, Contact co-designed and produced thin veneer, teak-wrapped mouldings for use in the Lahaina Hotel, Maui. The profiles were used to frame the hotel's artwork and mirrors.

Cedar wrapped exterior soffits: In response to UC Berkeley's Stanley Hall requirement for a higher fire rating and the request for the aesthetic look of wood, Contact Industries' new product team worked with the on-site design staff to custom engineer Western Red Cedar profile-wrapped aluminum soffit.
