Beginning in 2007, Contact Lumber will add significantly enhanced prefinishing options to its growing list of manufacturing and custom product capabilities. By the end of the first quarter, a new fully automated paint line will be installed at the company's Prineville, Ore. manufacturing facility, enabling Contact to stain and topcoat all products more efficiently and with the higher quality finishes required for commercial and residential architectural projects. Shortly after the first line is installed, Contact will add a UV line, offering environmentally superior coating and curing for their products. The company has had factory-finishing capability for years, but not in a large scale or with UV curing.

Contact Lumber Company has received notification from the International Organization for Standardization that its quality management and controls are in compliance with ISO 9001:2000. ISO 9001 is a highly respected, global recognition system that acknowledges product and service companies who meet and maintain quality management and controls in a variety of areas. The ISO 9001:2000 most recently replaced the now obsolete ISO 9001:1994.

The latest addition to Contact's growing line of wood-wrapped innovations is long length, clear, tongue and groove paneling for use on walls and ceilings. Like many of Contact's natural wood-wrapped products, the paneling offers the beauty of solid wood, but in long, clear, defect-free, color consistent lengths. Contact's advances in veneer technology allow for hardwood tongue and groove boards in lengths up to 16', and widths up to 10", providing ease of installation, which results in less labor and an overall lower installed cost. Contact's tongue and groove paneling is ideal for walls or ceilings and is available in any species.
