Falcon Wharf
 London Calling
It all started as an idea of architect James Burland: glass-enclosed living space for year-round, 360° enjoyment of the River Thames and downtown London cityscape. The door and window OEM, UK-based Soundcraft, needed high-quality, engineered components to make that idea a reality, so they turned to Timbmet Silverman, a UK-based wood products distributor, for solutions. That’s when Contact Industries got the call.

The development, Falcon Wharf, is 17 floors of glass-enclosed balconies, requiring over 75,000 bd. ft. of door stiles and window components just to keep the indoors separate from the out. Contact Industries answered the call with dimensionally superior laminated veneer lumber (LVL) door stiles. Now anytime is tea time.

If there was ever a job to showcase the use of engineered solutions, this is it. The project looks absolutey fabulous. The joinery and winter gardens are stunning. Everyone from Contact to Soundcraft has performed to the highest standard.
